What is a Theme?
A theme controls the overall look and feel of your job board - the layout, fonts, spacing, and general style. Customizing your theme helps make your job board unique and match your brand.
Step 1: Access Theme Settings
Go to "Settings" and then "Appearance" or "Theme" in your dashboard.
Step 2: Choose a Base Theme
If available, select a base theme to start with. This gives you a foundation to customize. Common options include:
- Modern/Contemporary
- Classic/Traditional
- Minimalist
- Bold/Vibrant
Step 3: Customize Layout
Adjust how your job board is laid out:
- Header Style: Choose how your header looks (centered, left-aligned, etc.)
- Job Listing Style: How jobs are displayed (list, grid, cards)
- Sidebar: Whether to show a sidebar and what goes in it
- Footer: Customize your footer content
Step 4: Choose Fonts
Select fonts for your job board:
- Heading Font: Font for titles and headings
- Body Font: Font for regular text
- Make sure fonts are readable and professional
Step 5: Adjust Spacing and Sizing
Fine-tune the appearance:
- Spacing between elements
- Size of buttons and links
- Padding and margins
Step 6: Preview Your Theme
Always preview your changes before saving. Make sure:
- Everything looks good on desktop
- It also looks good on mobile devices
- Text is readable
- Buttons and links are easy to click
Step 7: Save Your Theme
When you're satisfied, click "Save" to apply your theme. Your job board will update with the new look.
Best Practices
- Keep it simple - don't overcomplicate the design
- Make sure it's easy to navigate
- Test on different devices (phone, tablet, computer)
- Ensure it loads quickly
- Keep your brand consistent throughout
Advanced Customization
Some themes allow for advanced customization like:
- Custom CSS (if you know how to code)
- Custom widgets or sections
- Animation and transition effects
If you need advanced customization, you may want to work with a web designer or developer.
