EduTech Solutions
EducationProblem
EduTech Solutions, a nonprofit organization serving 52 school districts across three states in the Midwest, faced a critical challenge: connecting qualified teachers and education professionals with schools that desperately needed them. The teacher shortage crisis had hit the region particularly hard, with rural and urban districts struggling to fill positions in STEM subjects, special education, and bilingual education. Schools were posting jobs on multiple platforms district websites, state education job boards, local newspapers, and generic job sites creating a fragmented and inefficient process. Teachers had to check dozens of different websites to find opportunities, and many positions went unfilled for months. The average time to fill a teaching position was 89 days, with some specialized roles remaining open for entire school years. School administrators were spending 15-20 hours per week managing job postings, reviewing applications, and coordinating interviews, time that should have been spent on educational leadership. The process was also costly: districts were paying $300-$500 per posting on various platforms, with limited visibility and poor candidate quality. Many qualified teachers, especially those relocating or new to the region, weren't aware of opportunities because they didn't know where to look. The lack of a centralized platform meant that excellent candidates in one district might never see opportunities in neighboring districts, even when those districts were only 30 miles away. Additionally, the application process varied wildly between districts some required paper applications, others used different online systems, creating confusion and barriers for candidates. This inefficiency was directly impacting student learning, as schools started the year with substitute teachers or combined classes due to unfilled positions.
Solution
In partnership with MyJobBoard, EduTech Solutions launched a comprehensive regional education job board in September 2022 that would serve as a centralized hub for all education employment in the region. The solution was designed specifically for the education sector, with deep understanding of the unique needs of schools and educators. Key components included: First, a unified platform that aggregated job postings from all 52 participating school districts, allowing teachers to search by subject, grade level, location, district size, and other education-specific criteria. Second, standardized job posting templates tailored for education roles (classroom teachers, administrators, support staff, etc.) that highlighted key information like class sizes, student demographics, professional development opportunities, and district benefits. Third, a streamlined application process that allowed candidates to create one comprehensive profile and apply to multiple positions with a single click, dramatically reducing application friction. Fourth, district-specific branding that maintained each school district's unique identity while providing a consistent user experience. Fifth, automated job posting distribution to state education association websites, university career centers, and teacher preparation programs, ensuring maximum visibility to qualified candidates. Sixth, a candidate matching system that used AI to match teachers' qualifications, certifications, and preferences with appropriate positions, sending personalized job recommendations. Seventh, mobile-optimized design recognizing that many teachers browse opportunities on their phones during planning periods or evenings. Eighth, integration with state certification databases to verify teaching credentials automatically, saving districts significant time in the screening process. Ninth, analytics dashboard for districts to track posting performance, application quality, and time-to-fill metrics. Tenth, a communication hub that facilitated direct messaging between districts and candidates, with automated status updates throughout the hiring process. The platform also included resources for candidates, such as information about state certification requirements, relocation assistance programs, and cost-of-living comparisons between districts.

“The teacher shortage crisis was hitting our region hard, and the fragmented approach to recruitment wasn't working. MyJobBoard changed everything by creating a true regional hub that brought everyone together. We're now filling 95% of positions with qualified candidates, and the average time to fill dropped from 89 days to just 14 days.
